Gold Galaxy Z Fold8 or Z Fold8 Ultra? Design-by-Design Prices, Hardware and What Each Keeps

Lavender Galaxy Z Fold8 Gold Accents in three versions, the lilac backs showing lens rings of 24K Gold, Rose Gold and Platinum

Leronza now sells two sizes of gold Samsung foldable: the Galaxy Z Fold8, added to the catalogue this month, and the larger Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra. Many designs carry the same name on both lines, so you can hold the design constant and see exactly what the Ultra adds.

This guide compares them with live catalogue prices, the hardware listed on the product pages, and one thing the price tag does not show: customising your own phone costs about half as much on the Fold8 for most designs, but not for the Evil Eye designs.

The short answer

The standard Z Fold8 starts lower than the Z Fold8 Ultra in every collection. In Classic, Prime, Rhodium, Exotic Leather and Mother of Pearl, the Ultra costs roughly 55% to 65% more at the smallest storage size at current catalogue prices. In the Evil Eye collection the two lines sit within a few percent of each other, so the choice there comes down to the phone rather than the budget.

Same design, both lines

Prices below are for 24K Gold at the smallest storage size, new device included, and for the own-device option. Rose Gold and Platinum cost the same. Click a price to open the product page. Classic compares the entry design on each line, because the two Classic ranges use different colours.

Read the own-device columns closely. For Classic through Mother of Pearl, the Fold8 own-device price is about half the Ultra one, so the Ultra costs more even before the phone is added. For the Evil Eye designs the own-device price is identical on both lines, and the whole gap between the lines comes from the phone itself.

The hardware behind the price

Leronza changes the back and the camera surround, not the phone. These specifications come from the Samsung Gulf data repeated on the Leronza product pages for each line.

Galaxy Z Fold8 Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra
Main display 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X 8.0-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X
Cover display 5.5-inch 6.5-inch
Rear cameras 50MP wide and 50MP ultra wide 200MP main, 50MP ultra wide and 10MP 3x telephoto
Optical zoom 2x optical quality 3x optical
Battery 4,800mAh (typical) 5,000mAh (typical)
Processor Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy on both
Memory 12GB RAM with 256GB or 512GB, 16GB RAM with 1TB, on both
Security updates Until 31 July 2033 per Samsung Gulf, on both

The Ultra adds a larger inner screen, a telephoto camera and a bigger battery. If none of those is why you are buying a foldable, the Fold8 gives you the same processor and memory for less.

What is plated, and what you give up

The work is the same on both lines. The product pages state that the frame and hinge are never plated, so the fold opens and closes as Samsung built it. What changes by collection is the back.

Classic

  • Samsung colour back kept; only the rings around the camera lenses are plated.
  • The Fold8 has two lens rings, the Ultra three.
  • Wireless charging and Samsung Wallet tap-to-pay are stated to work as standard, and the sales team confirms before you order.

Every other collection

  • A new plated back panel replaces the rear glass, with the camera surround finished to match.
  • Prime, Rhodium and Evil Eye: wireless charging and tap-to-pay do not work. Charge over USB-C.
  • Exotic Leather and Mother of Pearl: depends on the configuration, confirmed by a consultant.
Water. Samsung rates the unmodified phones IP48. Every product page we read says not to rely on that rating once the phone is customised, on either line.

Storage steps are not the same on both lines

You might expect the Ultra to cost more at every storage step by the same amount. It does not. Here are the Classic entry designs at each size:

Storage Fold8 Lavender Fold8 Ultra Blue Shadow
256GB $ 3,790 $ 5,880
512GB $ 3,990 $ 6,020
1TB $ 4,490 $ 6,310

Moving up in storage adds more on the Fold8 than on the Ultra, so the gap between the two lines narrows as you go up. The Prime and Rhodium collections follow the same pattern. If you were planning on 1TB anyway, the Ultra premium is smaller than the entry prices suggest.

How to choose

Choose the Z Fold8 if

  • You already own a Fold8 and want the cheapest route: the own-device price is the lowest of either line.
  • You want the lowest entry price of the two foldables. Start with the Classic Fold8 designs.
  • The 7.6-inch inner screen and two-camera setup are enough.

Choose the Z Fold8 Ultra if

  • You want the 8.0-inch inner screen, the 200MP main camera or the 3x telephoto.
  • You are choosing an Evil Eye design, where the price gap between the lines is small.
  • You plan on 1TB, where the premium is smallest.

Frequently asked questions

Is the standard Galaxy Z Fold8 cheaper than the Z Fold8 Ultra at Leronza?

Yes, in every collection. The gap is large in Classic, Prime, Rhodium, Exotic Leather and Mother of Pearl, and shrinks to a few percent in the Evil Eye collection.

Do I pay less if I send my own phone?

Yes. Every design we checked offers a Use my own device option beside Include a new device. For the Classic, Prime, Rhodium, Exotic Leather and Mother of Pearl designs, the own-device price on the Fold8 is roughly half the Ultra price. In the Evil Eye collection the own-device price is the same on both lines. The phone you send must be the matching model, and the product pages say shipping and customs are paid both ways.

Does the choice of metal change the price?

No. Within a design, 24K Gold, Rose Gold and Platinum are priced the same on both lines.

Which designs keep wireless charging and Samsung Wallet tap-to-pay?

On both lines the Classic designs are stated to keep both as standard, with the sales team confirming before you order. Exotic Leather and Mother of Pearl depend on the configuration. Prime, Rhodium and Evil Eye designs use a metal back that blocks both, so you charge over USB-C and pay by card or another device.

Is the frame or hinge plated on either phone?

No. The product pages for both the Z Fold8 and the Z Fold8 Ultra say the frame and hinge are never plated, so the fold keeps its factory action.
