Less metal, more weave: the CarbonFiber Gold iPhone Air lets woven carbon fibre cover almost the whole back. Set on the carbon is a plated Apple logo, and above it a polished plated camera plateau. The starting point is an unlocked Apple iPhone Air, straight from the box, and the result is the simplest piece in our Carbon Fibre iPhone Air collection.
The weave is a twill, a matte, diagonal texture familiar from racing cars and supercars, and against it polished metal looks brighter still. A small plated GoldPrivé nameplate sits at the base, and the titanium frame shares the metal of the logo and plateau: 24K Gold, Rose Gold or Platinum, 5–7 microns thick, applied in our Dubai atelier. The Work Involved Carbon Outside, Apple Hardware Within
Our atelier changes two things. Apple’s rear panel is replaced with a new one carrying the carbon, logo, plateau and nameplate, and the titanium frame is plated so its sides and buttons wear the same metal. The display, the A19 Pro chip, the cameras, the battery and every internal component remain unopened and unmodified, and all the handwork happens on the outside.
Face ID, eSIM, the 48MP Fusion camera, Apple Pay, 5G and iOS updates all keep working. Charging is the only change to daily use: because the carbon is laid over plated metal, MagSafe and Qi2 pads will not charge it, and power comes in through USB‑C.
