The Gold Letter Opener does the job properly: slip the point under the flap, draw it along, and the fold parts cleanly. The blade narrows to a fine point with a gentle ridge down its length. A ringed collar marks where it meets the handle, which opens into a flat plaque with bevelled corners and a raised border, a surface that seems made for initials. 24K Gold, Rose Gold and Platinum all cost the same.

The opener is plated all over at 5–7 microns and polished to a mirror, so blade, collar and plaque share one finish. No part is left in another material, and there are no joins or moving pieces to think about. Our photographs show 24K Gold; in Rose Gold or Platinum the outline is identical.
It is made for paper, not for cutting string, tape or packaging. Keeping it to envelopes protects both the point and the plating.

The letter opener is a traditional writing-desk tool for slitting envelopes neatly along the fold.
Wipe the opener with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth from handle to point. Abrasive pastes and chemical cleaners dull the mirror, so never use them. Keep hand cream, perfume and moisture off the metal, and lay it flat when not in use.
