Milanese mesh is made from tiny interlaced loops of metal, so it feels supple rather than stiff and catches the light across its whole surface. On the Ultra2 that texture meets a deliberately two-tone case: the plated bezel and buttons frame the 1.5-inch display, the titanium sides stay dark, and the mesh carries the metal from the lugs round to a slim, flat clasp. Two things take the metal: the watch’s bezel and buttons, the Quick Button included, and the whole Milanese strap. Samsung’s titanium case sides are left as they are, and so are the display, the processor, the sensors, the battery and the sensor back on the underside. Seen from this angle, the dark titanium between the plated bezel and the mesh is exactly what gives the Ultra2 its two-tone character.
With the back unplated, Samsung’s wireless charger docks and charges just as it does on any Ultra2, and health tracking, workouts, the siren and Wear OS updates carry on unchanged.
