In our Dubai atelier, a brand-new Samsung Galaxy Watch9 has its aluminium case and both buttons electroplated at 5–7 microns in your chosen colour, and a Milanese mesh is finished in exactly that shade, whether 24K Gold, Rose Gold or Platinum. Where a link bracelet makes a statement, mesh speaks more quietly. A close weave of fine metal forms a flexible band that drapes over the wrist and picks up light across its whole surface, framing the cushion-shaped case and its round display with texture rather than weight. It looks right with a crisp shirt cuff at a morning meeting and slides just as neatly under an evening sleeve.

Plating reaches three places: the aluminium case, its pair of buttons and the full length of the Milanese mesh. Inside, nothing is disturbed: the sapphire crystal and the screen beneath it, the Snapdragon Wear Elite processor, the health sensors and the battery remain exactly as they left Samsung, and so does the sensor back on the underside.
