Gold Galaxy Z Fold8 or Gold Galaxy S26 Ultra? The Fold Premium, Collection by Collection
Leronza customises two Samsung flagships in the same design collections: the slab-style Galaxy S26 Ultra and the book-style Galaxy Z Fold8. Many designs carry the same name on both phones, so you can hold the design constant and let the phone be the only variable. This guide does that with live catalogue prices and the details printed on the product pages. It is about the standard Z Fold8. If you are weighing the bigger Z Fold8 Ultra instead, see S26 Ultra or Z Fold8 Ultra or Z Fold8 or Z Fold8 Ultra.
The short answer
The Z Fold8 costs more than the S26 Ultra in every collection. How much more depends heavily on the collection: the gap is narrowest on Mother of Pearl and Exotic Leather, wider on Classic, and widest on Evil Eye. The metal prices do not change the picture, because 24K gold, rose gold and platinum cost the same within a design on both phones.
Price range by collection
| Collection | Galaxy S26 Ultra | Galaxy Z Fold8 | Fold8 gap |

| Prime | $ 3,560 to $ 4,690 | Prime: $ 4,090 to $ 5,290 | Moderate |
| Rhodium | $ 4,090 to $ 4,690 | Rhodium: $ 4,590 to $ 5,290 | Moderate |
| Mother of Pearl | $ 4,370 to $ 4,970 | Mother of Pearl: $ 4,690 to $ 5,290 | Narrowest |

Same design, two phones
These seven designs exist on both phones under the same name. The ranges run from the lowest storage size to 1 TB, with a new device included.
| Design | Galaxy S26 Ultra | Galaxy Z Fold8 |
|---|---|---|
| Elite (Prime) | $ 3,560 to $ 4,160 | Fold8 version: $ 4,090 to $ 4,790 |
| Flora (Prime) | $ 4,090 to $ 4,690 | Fold8 version: $ 4,590 to $ 5,290 |
| Nexus Link (Rhodium) | $ 4,090 to $ 4,690 | Fold8 version: $ 4,590 to $ 5,290 |
| Royale (Mother of Pearl) | $ 4,370 to $ 4,970 | Fold8 version: $ 4,690 to $ 5,290 |
| Exotic Royale (Exotic Leather) | $ 4,370 to $ 4,970 | Fold8 version: $ 4,690 to $ 5,290 |
| Hamsa Eye Amulet (Evil Eye) | $ 6,710 to $ 7,310 | Fold8 version: $ 9,380 to $ 9,800 |
| LuxEvil Charm (Evil Eye) | $ 8,180 to $ 8,780 | Fold8 version: $ 10,850 to $ 11,270 |
Two patterns are worth knowing. First, the three Evil Eye designs on the S26 Ultra and on the Z Fold8 each sit in one price band, so the choice between them is about the look, not the cost. Second, because the Mother of Pearl and Exotic Leather designs on the fold sit closest to their S26 Ultra twins, those are the collections where picking the fold costs you the least extra.

What gets plated on each phone
The price tag hides a real difference in the work. These points come from the product pages we read for each phone.
Galaxy S26 Ultra
The Armor Aluminum frame is plated, on the Classic and Elite pages we read. Classic keeps Samsung’s own glass back and plates the frame and the rings around the camera lenses. Elite fits a new plated back panel and a plated frame. Plating is laid down 5 to 7 microns thick.
Galaxy Z Fold8
The frame and the Armor FlexHinge are never plated, so the fold closes and opens as Samsung built it. Classic plates only two rings around the rear camera lenses. Other collections fit a new plated rear panel and a matching camera island. Plating is 5 to 7 microns thick.
So the extra money for the fold does not buy more metal. On the S26 Ultra the metal runs round the frame as well as the back; on the Z Fold8 it stays on the back and the camera surround.
What you are choosing between, as Samsung ships them
The product pages list Samsung Gulf’s published figures for the unmodified phones. Customisation does not open either phone or touch the screens, processor or batteries.

What you give up: wireless charging and tap-to-pay
A plated metal back blocks both wireless charging and the NFC link Samsung Wallet uses for tap-to-pay. What each phone keeps depends on the design:
| Design type | Galaxy S26 Ultra | Galaxy Z Fold8 |
|---|---|---|
| Classic (Samsung back kept) | Wireless charging and Samsung Wallet tap-to-pay unchanged, as stated on the Classic pages. | Expected to work as on any Z Fold8; a consultant confirms both with you before the order is accepted. |
| Plated back (Prime, Rhodium, Evil Eye) | Neither works. Charge over USB-C. | Neither works. Charge over USB-C, up to 25W. |
We have not read every Mother of Pearl and Exotic Leather page for this, so ask the team on those designs.
Which one to choose
Choose the S26 Ultra if
You want the lowest entry price in the gold Samsung range. You want the S Pen and the telephoto cameras. You want the frame plated as well as the back. You want wireless charging and tap-to-pay on a plated-frame phone, which only a Classic design gives you.
Choose the Z Fold8 if
The 7.6-inch inner screen is the reason you are buying. You are happy with a frame and hinge that stay as Samsung built them. You are choosing a Mother of Pearl or Exotic Leather design, where the fold’s extra cost is smallest. You would rather not pay the Z Fold8 Ultra’s higher prices, which are compared in our Z Fold8 versus Z Fold8 Ultra guide.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Galaxy Z Fold8 more expensive than the S26 Ultra at Leronza?
Yes, in every collection. Compared on starting prices, the gap is narrowest on the Mother of Pearl and Exotic Leather designs, wider on Classic, and widest on the Evil Eye designs. The prices in our tables are read live from the catalogue.
Is the frame plated on the Z Fold8?
No. The Z Fold8 product pages state that the frame and the Armor FlexHinge are never plated, so the fold keeps its factory action. On the S26 Ultra pages we read (Classic and Elite), the Armor Aluminum frame is plated.
Which of the two keeps wireless charging and Samsung Wallet tap-to-pay?
On the S26 Ultra, the Classic designs keep Samsung glass and the product pages state both are unchanged. On the Z Fold8, Classic designs are expected to keep both, and a consultant confirms before the order is accepted. Designs with a plated back lose both on either phone, so you charge over USB-C.
Do 24K gold, rose gold and platinum cost different amounts?
No. Within a design, the three metals share one price on both phones.
Can I send my own Samsung instead of buying a new one?
Yes. The product pages we checked on both phones offer Use my own device beside Include a new device. Pick it on the product page to see the price for your own phone.
