This hobnail texture, a pattern metalworkers have used for centuries, runs from edge to edge across the back of a factory-new, unlocked Galaxy Z Fold8. Around the middle the texture pauses. A broad chevron of smooth metal, with a shorter square tab hanging from its centre, is held in place by small screw heads at its corners, a sharp geometric outline against the texture. The tall camera island at the upper left, framing two lenses, is polished to match, and the pyramids resume below the chevron down to a GoldPrivé nameplate. The frame and hinge are left as Samsung finished them, and every metal costs the same. Pyramid is one of the Prime designs on Samsung’s wider, lighter foldable.
