We plate the top plate and the knob at 5–7 microns and polish them to a mirror. The rocker base beneath stays black and takes ordinary blotting paper, which you change as it fills with ink. Our photographs show 24K Gold with black; Rose Gold and Platinum versions keep the same black base.
The black is practical too: it sits nearest the page, and stray ink hides against a dark finish far better than against polished metal.

A rocker blotter presses curved blotting paper over fresh writing, absorbing ink that has not yet dried.
Wipe the top plate and knob with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth, and keep abrasive or chemical cleaners well away. Perfume, hand cream and moisture should not be left on the plated metal. Change the blotting paper once it is saturated.
