Gold iPhone 18 Pro or Pro Max? What the Size Choice Adds to the Price, Collection by Collection

24K Gold iPhone 18 Pro Max Elite shown in 24K Gold, Rose Gold and Platinum finishes

Every Gold iPhone 18 design at Leronza is one product page that covers both the iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone 18 Pro Max: you pick the size, the capacity and the finish from the same set of options. That makes the size choice easy to overlook, and easy to misjudge, because what the Pro Max adds to the bill is not the same in every collection. This guide lays out the premium design by design, using the live catalogue, and shows when it is smaller than a single capacity step and when it is larger than several.

What the two sizes actually differ in

Leronza fits a genuine Apple iPhone 18 Pro or Pro Max with a new plated back panel and plates the frame in 24K Gold, Rose Gold or Platinum at 5 to 7 microns. The plating, the designs and the finishes are the same on both sizes. What changes is the phone underneath. The product pages quote Apple’s published figures: a 6.3-inch display on the Pro against 6.9 inches on the Pro Max, and video playback of up to 36 hours on the Pro against up to 45 hours on the Pro Max. The chip, the cameras and the build are listed as common to both.

The size premium, collection by collection

The table shows the 24K Gold price for the entry capacity with a new iPhone included, and for the “use my own iPhone” option, where you supply the handset and capacity is as supplied. Rose Gold and Platinum are priced the same as 24K Gold within each design, so the finish does not change any of these comparisons. One design is shown per tier, plus every design in the Ecstasy tier, because that is where the numbers behave differently.

Collection Design Pro, 256 GB, new iPhone included Pro Max, 256 GB, new iPhone included Pro, your own iPhone Pro Max, your own iPhone
Rhodium Nocturne Edition $ 2,990 $ 3,190 $ 1,690 $ 1,790
Classic Glacier $ 2,990 $ 3,190 $ 1,690 $ 1,790
Prime Elite $ 3,590 $ 3,790 $ 2,290 $ 2,390
Prime Imperial $ 4,190 $ 4,390 $ 2,890 $ 2,990
Mother of Pearl Majesty $ 3,990 $ 4,190 $ 2,690 $ 2,790
Exotic Leather WildGrace $ 3,990 $ 4,190 $ 2,690 $ 2,790
Carbon Fiber CarbonFiber $ 3,990 $ 4,190 $ 2,690 $ 2,790
Ecstasy Iconix $ 4,390 $ 4,590 $ 3,090 $ 3,190
Ecstasy IconixBold $ 10,790 $ 11,790 $ 9,490 $ 10,390
Ecstasy IconixEdge $ 13,090 $ 13,790 $ 11,790 $ 12,390
Ecstasy Supernova $ 13,790 $ 14,190 $ 12,490 $ 12,790
Evil Eye Hamsa Eye Amulet $ 6,610 $ 6,810 $ 5,290 $ 5,390
Evil Eye LuxEvil Charm $ 8,080 $ 8,280 $ 6,790 $ 6,890

Across most designs the Pro Max costs a small, fixed amount more than the Pro, and the same small amount applies at every capacity. The Ecstasy tier is the exception: IconixBold carries the widest premium of any design in the table, IconixEdge and Supernova sit in between, and the gap is wider again when you use your own iPhone. If you are looking at an Ecstasy design, read the row for that exact design rather than assuming the usual step.

Worked example: does size or capacity move the price more?

Capacity steps are identical on both sizes in every design checked, so the size premium behaves like a constant added on top. That produces a useful rule. Here is the Elite, the plain Prime design:

Capacity Pro (6.3-inch) Pro Max (6.9-inch)
256 GB $ 3,590 $ 3,790
512 GB $ 3,890 $ 4,090
1 TB $ 4,390 $ 4,590
2 TB $ 5,190 $ 5,390

Read down the columns and across them. In the Elite, a Pro Max at one capacity tier costs less than a Pro at the next tier up, so if the larger screen is what you want, you can often take it and stay under the price of a bigger-storage Pro. Now the same table for IconixBold:

Capacity Pro (6.3-inch) Pro Max (6.9-inch)
256 GB $ 10,790 $ 11,790
512 GB $ 11,090 $ 12,090
1 TB $ 11,590 $ 12,590
2 TB $ 12,390 $ 13,390

Here the order changes. At the time of writing, the 256 GB Pro Max in IconixBold costs more than the Pro at 1 TB. The size premium in this design is worth more than two capacity upgrades, so for IconixBold the question is a genuine budget decision and not a rounding error. The Evil Eye designs list capacities up to 1 TB, so their tables stop one row earlier than the 2 TB rows above.

How to decide

  • Choose the Pro Max if you want the 6.9-inch display or the longer quoted battery life, and your design is outside the Ecstasy tier, where the premium is small relative to what a capacity upgrade costs.
  • Choose the Pro if you prefer the 6.3-inch body, or if you are looking at IconixBold or IconixEdge and would rather spend the difference on storage or on a different design.
  • Fix the capacity first, then compare sizes at that capacity. Comparing a Pro Max at 256 GB with a Pro at 512 GB mixes two decisions together.
  • If you already own an iPhone 18 Pro or Pro Max, the size is already decided. The own-iPhone option prices the work on your handset; the process is described in our send-in guide.
Settle the size before you order. Each device is made to order and we do not offer returns on made-to-order pieces. Two limits apply to either size once customised, according to the product pages: wireless charging is not supported, so you charge by USB-C cable, and the phone is no longer water resistant. Our warranty explainer covers what the 2-year customisation warranty includes.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Pro Max use a different plating process from the Pro?

No. Both sizes get a new plated back panel and a plated frame at 5 to 7 microns, in 24K Gold, Rose Gold or Platinum. Only the underlying Apple handset differs.

Do 24K Gold, Rose Gold and Platinum cost different amounts?

Not within a design. For every design shown in the table, the three finishes are priced the same at a given size and capacity.

How do the battery figures compare?

The product pages list Apple’s published video playback figures: up to 36 hours for the iPhone 18 Pro and up to 45 hours for the iPhone 18 Pro Max.

Can I charge a customised iPhone wirelessly?

No. Precious metal over the back blocks MagSafe and Qi2, so a customised iPhone 18 charges over USB-C on either size.

Why is the own-iPhone price lower?

With the own-iPhone option you supply the handset, so the price covers the customisation work only and the capacity is as supplied. The new-iPhone option includes a genuine, unlocked Apple iPhone at the capacity you choose.
