Black Nacre and Yellow Gold
Royale uses black-lip mother of pearl rather than the pale white nacre of the Majesty — a darker shell with green and violet iridescence that only resolves when the light moves across it. Against 24K yellow gold it is the strongest contrast available in the pearl line. The plates are hand-cut and laid into milled channels across both folding panels, then sealed and polished flush with the frame.
Selecting Dark Shell
Black-lip shell varies far more than white, so plates are sorted for tone before laying and matched panel to panel — otherwise one half of the open device reads green and the other violet. We select from a wider batch than any other inlay we offer and reject a higher proportion of it. The hinge spine can be plain or diamond-set; pavé against dark nacre is the most dramatic option in the collection.

Matching Tone Across the Fold
Black-lip shell shifts between green and violet depending on the plate.
