The Gold Apple Watch Series 12 Black Ocean Band is for the wearer who wants precious metal on a watch that still looks ready for the gym, the airport or a weekend away. We take a brand-new Apple Watch Series 12 with a 46mm aluminium case, plate it by hand in Dubai in 24K Gold, Rose Gold or Platinum at 5–7 microns, and fit Apple’s own Ocean Band in black. It brings a sporting edge to our gold Apple Watch Series 12 collection.
Black keeps the band quiet, so the eye goes straight to the polished case and to the plated buckle and loop that repeat its colour further along the strap. The ribbed, tubular shape gives the band real texture, with a row of round openings running down each edge. The Gold Apple Watch Series 12 Black Ocean Band comes with the 46mm case only, at one price in every finish.
Apple Band, Plated Hardware What We Plate, and What Apple Designed
On the watch, plating covers the aluminium case, the Digital Crown and the side button. The Ocean Band is Apple’s and is left unplated: it is moulded from a high-performance fluoroelastomer (FKM), and only its buckle and loop receive the same metal as the case. Inside, nothing changes. The display, S11 chip, sensors and battery are Apple’s, and the sensor back keeps its factory finish, so the Apple Watch Magnetic Fast Charger connects as normal.
Those tubular ribs let the band stretch slightly for a secure fit. Thread the tail through the buckle, set the pin in whichever hole feels right, then slide the plated loop along to hold the end in place. Apple built the band itself for water sports, but please don’t take this customised watch into the water: it is not water resistant, so no swimming, diving or any water sport.
