Because the flower underneath is real, no two are identical. The curl of the outer petals, the notch of a leaf edge, the slight bend of the stem: all of it is the rose that grew, held in gold rather than modelled in it.
Preserved First How a Real Rose Becomes This
The rose is cut at its peak and preserved before any metal touches it, so the bloom keeps the shape it had on the day. Only then is it finished in 24K gold, which follows the surface closely enough to show the veins in a leaf and the thin edge of a petal.
Our photographs show the finished rose against white and resting on its box. What they cannot show is the weight: heavier in the hand than a fresh flower, which is the moment most people realise it is not an ornament of a rose but the rose itself.
