Guilloché Across the Fold
Artisan is our guilloché edition — the engine-turned technique borrowed from watch dials and cigarette cases, where a repeating geometric wave is cut into the metal with a hand-cranked rose engine. On a folding panel it is unusually effective, because the pattern's direction shifts as the device opens and the light rakes across it differently on each half. Plated at 5 to 7 microns in 24K Gold, Rose Gold or Platinum, the cuts stay crisp; the finish is bright without being mirror-glossy.
Choosing Your Pattern
Three guilloché patterns are offered: barleycorn, clous de Paris and a wide sunburst that radiates from the hinge. Barleycorn is the busiest and hides fingerprints best; sunburst is the most dramatic when the phone is opened flat on a table. The frame can be left plain to keep attention on the field, or diamond-set along the spine. Gemstone accents are available but we generally advise against them here — guilloché is a texture that prefers to be left alone.
Handled and Inspected Individually
Every Artisan panel is cut on the rose engine one at a time, so no two are strictly identical and each is inspected under raking light before assembly. It ships in the leather presentation case with Certificate of Authenticity, original Apple documentation, USB-C cable and a complimentary 20W adapter.
Surface variation between units is expected and is part of the technique rather than a defect — the honest consequence of hand-turning every panel in the Prime foldable range.
