Nacre Divided by a Gold Rib
Majesty Victory runs a solid gold rib through the mother-of-pearl field on each folding panel, aligned so the two ribs meet as one continuous line at the hinge when the device is opened flat. Setting metal through shell is more demanding than setting it through leather — nacre cannot be compressed, so each plate has to be cut to the rib rather than fitted around it, and the tolerances are measured in tenths of a millimetre.
Alignment at the Fold
The ribs are positioned against the closed silhouette first, then checked again after the hinge is reassembled and re-torqued. A rib that is fractionally out of line is invisible folded and glaring open, so this alignment step is the one we spend the most time on. Frame, spine and camera surround are plated to match at 5 to 7 microns in 24K Gold, Rose Gold or Platinum.
